How to Play Oz Lotto: A Simple Guide
It's Easy to Get Started!
The rules of Oz Lotto are straightforward, making it easy for anyone to dive into the world of lotto. Follow these simple steps to begin your Oz Lotto adventure.
Prepare to Play
First, ensure you meet the age requirements (18+) and understand the game rules. You can typically play Oz Lotto through licensed lottery retailers or accredited online lottery platforms. Familiarize yourself with how to select numbers or use Quick Pick options.
Pick Your Lucky Numbers
To play a standard game of Oz Lotto, you need to choose 7 numbers from a pool of 1 to 47.
You can pick your own numbers – perhaps they are special dates, anniversaries, or just numbers you feel are lucky! Alternatively, if you're unsure or prefer a random selection, you can opt for a "Quick Pick" (also known as "SlikPik" or "AutoPick" depending on the retailer/platform), and the system will randomly generate your numbers for you. This is a very popular and convenient way to play.
Understand The Draw
Oz Lotto draws take place every Tuesday night. During the draw, 10 balls are randomly drawn from a barrel of 47 balls (numbered 1 to 47).
The first 7 balls drawn are the "Main Numbers." The next 3 balls drawn are the "Supplementary Numbers" (sometimes called Bonus Numbers). Supplementary numbers are used to determine prizes in some of the lower divisions (e.g., Divisions 2, 4, and 7).
Matching Numbers and Winning
The more main numbers you match to the winning numbers drawn, the bigger your potential prize! To hit the Oz Lotto jackpot (Division 1), you’ll need to match all 7 main numbers drawn.
However, there are multiple prize divisions. You can win a prize for matching as few as 3 main numbers plus one or two supplementary numbers. Check our Oz Lotto Prizes page for a detailed breakdown of all prize divisions and what you need to match to win.
